CRC Race Results: CRC wins again - 4 class victories!

Calandra Racing Dominates the 2010 Snowbirds

CRC cars win 4 classes! Hupo Hönigl wins 2 classes!

Austrian racer Hupo Hönigl and the CRC Gen-X10 World GT car (#1710) continue to dominate major road course racing events. A T.Q. and win at Cleveland in November followed by a T.Q. + win at the 2010 Snowbirds. As in Cleveland, Hupo won each round of qualifying and the main event for a dominant victory. Backing up Hupo's result was Brian Wynn with a 2nd place qualifying effort. CRC Gen-X 10 occupied 5 out of the 10 A-main positions with Northwest drivers Dave Ehrlich and Brian Bodine as well as Randy Grosse from North Dakota. With the other teams entering their top drivers in the class, this was a another solid result for the CRC Gen-X 10.

New Products for 2010

from Calandra Racing Concepts!

Welcome to 2010 and the dead of winter here in the Northeast U.S.A.. We have been quite busy this fall and winter bringing you the multi-champion CRC Gen-XL and Gen-X 10. Even so, we have been busy working on new items over the past few months.

All new CRC 1s Lipo Racing Battery

#3700

CRC enters the battery wars with the new Maxxcell line of lithium polymer (Lipo) racing batteries, the red pack is here. Featuring a low profile terminal design, convenient 4 mm bullet tubes, low internal resistance (IR), high average discharge voltage and long runtime, the Maxxcell lipo is a proven winner. The CRC Maxxcell line of batteries deliver the performance to win. The 50C peak discharge rates deliver the punch, a true 5200 mah delivers the runtime. Don't believe our numbers, use a GFX to check out our 35 amp numbers against any other and you will see the CRC red pack has what it takes to win.

The 4mm tubes and bullet connectors closely replicate the solder tabs most every racer has used for years. Why suddenly have all the racing batteries gone a wired connector? It is time to ditch the connector and install a lightweight high-performance pack with high quality pure copper bullet tubes. Wired batteries with connectors are inconvenient and difficult to use as each manufacturer uses different placement, wire lengths and connectors. Plus, space is tight in most 1:12th road racers, all that wire and connector bulk takes up valuable room. With the bullet connectors, the wiring is much cleaner, efficient and lightweight.

CRC Race Results: Battle Axe 2.0 and Black Diamond dominate Oval!

CRC Battle Axe 2.0 and Advanced Black Diamond Speedo

Reign Supreme at the Spektrum R/C New Year Dash

presented by CRC Raceway

Frank Ulbrik, Tom Firsching and Brian Wynn (not shown) used their Advanced Black Diamond LV speed controls to dominate the 14th Annual New Year Dash Carpet Oval Challenge in Oneida, NY. With it's debut in Las Vegas in September 2009, Advanced Electronics shook the world with the stunning performance of the Black Diamond. Now, with Advanced schooling other companies how to build a fast speed control, others have attempted to duplicate the speed, but the Black Diamond just keeps on winning. Ulbrik took his Prototype Hyperdrive machine to a dominant victory in the TOUR Expert 7.5 with the Advanced Black Diamond speed control powering his ride. In the 1:12th scale 10.5 class, Brian Wynn took his Razor II to a T.Q. and win with the Black Diamond providing the power.

CRC Race Results: Elliott Harper joins Team CRC

Elliott Harper Joins Team CRC

Calandra Racing Concepts announces that United Kingdom's young rising star, Elliott Harper, has joined the CRC race team. Elliott will be driving the new CRC 1:12th scale Gen-XL car with CRC Pro Cut tires at the BRCA Nationals starting Dec 11-13, 2009 in Tamworth, UK. He will represent the full line of CRC products with Gen-XL and Gen X 10 cars, Pro Cut tires and Black Art bodies. As a past BRCA Nationals winner and IFMAR World Championship A-finalist, Harper is sure to stir up the results this coming season.

Elliott is a superb driver on the rise, and as his continued success on the national and international racing scene shows, Elliott is a force to be reckoned with at any road racing event. With 1:12th specialists Calandra Racing Concepts adding to his already impressive arsenal, the 2009-2010 season is showing great promise.

While Elliott plans to compete in as many races as possible, the 2010 Worlds and Euros are still a bit tentative because of his studies. As a dedicated student, Elliott may be forced to miss some events in the name of education. However, look for the young star to be a threat at all the events that he attends. CRC welcomes the UK speedster to the team and wishes him good luck in racing and in his studies.

CRC Race Results: CRC covers Cleveland 2009

Calandra Racing Concepts "Advances" Cleveland

A new performance level with the Advanced Speedo, new lipo battery and the dominant Gen-XL cars.

The 2009 version of the U.S. Indoor Championships in Cleveland, Ohio marks the 30th Annual running of this prestigious event. Thirty years ago, the race began as a 1:12th scale only event with only 2 classes offered, stock and modified. Over the years we have seen other types of cars race at the Champs, but this 30th Annual saw a return of 12th scale dominance of the event.

While the 1:12th numbers represented a good portion of the entries, the turnout was quite low when compared to previous years. Continuing a trend of lower turnouts in many of the large travel races, the Indoor Champ's attendance was down as well. This trend seems to have the greatest effect in the on-road racing segment.  Is it the economy? The speedo wars? Too many races? Too many classes? Race week too long? A big "yes" answers all those questions. As an on-road racing community, we need to stick together, enjoy the hobby and support local club racing. We also need to help and encourage new club racers and prospective r/c racers. With a little help from the economy, we can re-capture some of our lost racing friends.

The 2009 version marked the first year of the 1 cell lipo and no wintergreen based additives at the Champs. With pan cars using 1 cell lipo packs and brushless motors, road racing is certainly a bit easier now. No comm truing, no discharging trays, no re-peaking, no need to time your charge, no cycling and matching batteries, pretty easy. However, with all that cool new technology, smart engineers will find a way to extract more power from the batteries and the motors. One thing that has not changed is Calandra Racing's ability to keep up with technology offering you the best equipment to help you achieve your best result.
