Calandra Racing Concepts wins the 2009 ROAR Nats!
Gen-X 1:12th car and CRC tires win back to back Championships!

In Strongsville, Ohio at the Holiday Inn hotel, 284 entries battled for the National Championship at the 2009 ROAR Carpet Nationals. The class with the most competition and entries was the hotly contested 1:12th scale stock class. New chassis from a plethora of manufacturers were entered in what has become the most popular class for carpet racing. After four rounds of qualifying it was the same ole story, Calandra Racing Concepts drivers swept the front row with CRC cars and tires qualified 1-2-3! Tom Firsching (right) took the T.Q. position with his CRC teammates Max Kuenning (center) and Dave Johnson (left) qualifying 2nd and 3rd. All three drivers used CRC’s Gen-X 12 car, Pro Cut tires and the new Black Art R8C body available from CRC.
In the Triple A-main format, each driver had a great chance to win the event overall. Johnson won the first A-main (A1) from 3rd on the grid with Tom 2nd and Max 3rd. In A2, Max took the win with Tom 3rd.
The final race… A3…. a titanic battle between Tom and Max ensued with the lead swapping 2 or 3 times. While leading, neither driver could shake his rival as the 2 broke away from the pack. In the end, Max was able to wrestle the win with Tom hot on his tail. A total of 5 CRC Gen-X cars were in the A-main with Chuck Lonergan and Tyler Gerber joining the front row trio.
Congratulations to Michigan CRC driver Max Kuenning on his first ROAR National title! Thanks to the ROAR and The Gate race management crews for a great event.
