CRC wins again – 4 class victories!

Calandra Racing Dominates the 2010 Snowbirds

CRC cars win 4 classes! Hupo Hönigl wins 2 classes!

Austrian racer Hupo Hönigl and the CRC Gen-X10 World GT car (#1710) continue to dominate major road course racing events. A T.Q. and win at Cleveland in November followed by a T.Q. + win at the 2010 Snowbirds. As in Cleveland, Hupo won each round of qualifying and the main event for a dominant victory. Backing up Hupo’s result was with a 2nd place qualifying effort. CRC Gen-X 10 occupied 5 out of the 10 A-main positions with Northwest drivers Dave Ehrlich and Bodine as well as Randy Grosse from North Dakota. With the other teams entering their top drivers in the class, this was a another solid result for the CRC Gen-X 10.

Fantasy weekend for Florida driver Steve McNichols

Steve McNichols owned his CRC Gen-XL for about 10 days when he rolled into Orlando looking to compete at the 2010 Snowbird Nationals in 17.5. In the past, Steve has had some success in touring cars but was a relative unknown  in the 1:12th wars on a National level. At the start of practice, Steve stopped in to the CRC pits with his car looking for some advise and setup info. We spent a good bit of time with Steve explaining the car, setup and basics of his new CRC car, tires and Black Art body. Steve didn’t question a thing and simply made the changes that we suggested having full confidence in the support crew at CRC.

Fast forward to the qualifiers; after 3 rounds, Steve found himself in an unfamiliar position; 3rd on the grid and contending for a Championship title at a major race in 1:12th scale. In the A-main, Steve worked up from his 5th qualifying position to find himself in front for the last few minutes. As he crossed the line for his last lap, McNichols made a mistake that almost cost him the title, he mistakenly thought he was finished and lifted the throttle allowing second place to draw up close. Steve found himself in a dogfight on the final lap but managed to seal the deal with a great exchange for the lead. He kept his cool and made a nice pass for the lead with 2 turns to go.

This result is a break-out performance for Steve and a testament to the CRC product and team support. McNichols goes from relative unknown to a strong contender with just a switch of equipment and support crew around him. Congratulations Steve, a great result and a great story of success.

Hupo and Jilles on the Podium in 10.5

The 10.5 class is a great place where the hot stock drivers meet up against the top mod drivers. In many cases, with the limited horsepower and talented drivers, it becomes a battle of corner speed and chassis setup. For the 2009-2010 indoor season, it has become the domain of the CRC Gen-XL. With a 1-4 finish in Vegas followed by 1 – 3 finish in Cleveland, the dominance continued in Orlando as Hupo and Jilles took their cars to a 1 – 3 finish. The Generation-XL (3202) 1/12th scale durable, fast and affordable. Add the best support in the business and you can’t lose with a CRC car.

CRC wins on the Oval too!

Last year, Joel Winnicki just missed taking home the big win in 1:12th oval. He returned in 2010 with nothing but winning on his mind. Joel took his CRC Razor II 1:12th car to T.Q. and a solid A-main win! The central NY driver also used the CRC Monte Carlo body and World Champion Pro Cut tires. Joining Joel on the podium was his roommate, travel buddy and good friend Steve Pemberton with his full gamut of CRC equipment. Joining the podium group was last year’s T.Q. and the Colorado legend, Mario Ficco.
