Left Turn Only or Road Course, CRC cars and tires lay it down.

1/12th Stock Road Course Summary

CRC
The 2006 Snowbirds Event was again a great test for both oval and road course racers. Over 800 racers from all over the world ascended on Orlando, Florida for the 2006 version of the Snowbird Nationals. Again this year, the race would take place on a 96 x 40 section of CRC’s Fasttrak carpet.

In 1/12th stock, 3-time defending champ Mark Smyka was ready to defend. Also in the house was CRC’s Jeff Dayger and Cleveland winner Mike Pulfur.? Fresh from the Las Vegas A main, were Peter Robinson and Michael Skeen, looking to put their CRC rides in the A-main.

After 3 rounds of qualifying, CRC cars made up 50% of the A-main, including Jeff Dayger’s back to back T.Q. of the Snowbirds GTP Stock event. Jeff used a CRC Carpet Knife 3.2R with the optional ABP chassis (#1399) to again T.Q. the field, a repeat of last year’s T.Q. performance. Steve Pemberton wins 1/12th Oval with CRC Razor II and Pro-Cuts

Also joining Jeff in the A-main, CRC’s defending champ Mark Smyka, Michael Skeen, both in CRC T-Fource (#1312) cars with Peter Robinson also in a Carpet Knife V 3.2R. The second place car, driven by a team driver from another manufacturer, was also a CRC Carpet Knife.

With 50% of the field in CRC cars, it was ANOTHER dominating performance from the CRC car line. Three CRC 3.2R? cars and two CRC T-Fource cars.

Jeff Dayger went on from to T.Q. position to win the A-main. Jeff used CRC Pro-Cut Black compound front tires (#2174) with CRC Pro-Cut Grey rear tires (#2178). This makes CRC cars and tires 3 for 3, winning Las Vegas, Cleveland and now the Snowbirds.

In 1/12th 19-turn Oval, Steve Pemberton T.Q.’s and wins with the newly released CRC Razor II 1/12th oval car and CRC’s Pro-Cut tires (photo on right).

1/12th Modified Summary – “Who the hell is the stock driver in modified?”

The main story of of 1/12th modified was again Jeff Dayger. Unlike many races around the country, the Snowbirds allows a racer to enter as many classes as you like. The Snowbirds also allows a racer to enter both stock and modified. A few days before the Snowbirds, we were kicking around the office andLosi Team Manager, Todd Hodge, on the podium again with a Carpet Knife at the last minute decided to try to get Jeff Dayger entered in his first ever 1/12th Modified race. He was already entered in 3 classes, but with a little help with his car maintenance, we figured he could race 1/12th modified and get some experience. The staff at the Bird’s said there was some room available in 1/12th modified, so 1/12th Modified it was for Mr. Dayger.

At the race, Jeff was assisted by CRC’s own John Firsching a.k.a., Johnny Whopper. Quite a story behind John’s nickname, unfortunately for Mr. Firsching, his nickname “Whopper” did NOT come from a former career in adult videos but from his ability to eat BK’s largest burger.

John took the roll of mechanic to heart and carefully built Jeff’s Carpet Knife up for modified. No unavailable parts, just good quality stock car with available options from CRC. Dayger’s modified car used the ABP chassis, 10 degree aluminum upper arm mounts, Machined Delrin upper arm (#4275) and steering block (#4277) as well as CRC’s new Delrin rear machined pivot cups (#4278). Jeff used CRC’s new Pro-Cut Magenta front (#2172) and rear tires (#2176), no fancy “unobtainable” tires.

The result…. in qualifying, Dayger surprised the field pushing the fastest mod driver to the limit. Yes, this stock driver, un-experienced in modified, took the fastest driver in mod to new limits leading round 3 until the very last laps. In the end, Dayger qualified second, a great result from the “new guy”. Dayger used CRC’s Carpet Knife and Pro-Cut tires, with CRC option parts for 1/12th scale, proving to everyone that the link car with CRC tires can win ANY 1/12th race, stock or modified.

Joining Jeff in modified with his CRC Carpet Knife was the California based offroad/touring car specialist, Todd Hodge. Todd was fresh off his dominant performance at the U.S. Indoor Champs in Cleveland. Todd had a great podium finish in Cleveland, turning the fastest laps in the A-main. Again, here at the Snowbirds, Todd finished 3rd in the A-main with a solid run in the main, not bad for a buggy geek.

Also in the 1/12th Modified running CRC was Austrian CRC pilot Hubert “Hupo” Honigl with a CRC T-Fource. CRC’s Mike McMahon also made the A-main with a T-Fource.

Congrats to the entire CRC road course team on another great result.

CRC Razor II – World Champion – Wins 1/12th scale Oval at the Bird’s

?

Steve and Joel, 1st and 3rd in the A-mainThe Snowbirds could be called the World Championships of Oval Racing. This is by far the biggest race in the world for oval with all the big names of the oval circuit in town.

At this year’s event, CRC had the production version of the 1/12th Razor II which finished 2nd at the 2005 Snowbirds in prototype form. Driving new Razor II cars for CRC was last year second place driver Steve Pemberton,? A-main finisher John Firsching, Joel Winnicki and Chris Freader.

Early in the week, it was apparent that the CRC Razor II coupled with the CRC Pro-Cut tires was a dominant combination. Right from the preliminary club race previous to the event, CRC driver Joel Winnicki took the win with an impressive 59 lap run. The only other 59 lap run, CRC driver Steve Pemberton. Steve took the T.Q. of the 19 turn 1/12th oval division with the only 59 lap run at the official Snowbirds event.

In the A-main, Steve took off from his T.Q. position and lead every lap, taking the prestigious win. Joining Steve on the podium,? Joel Winnicki finished 3rd with his Razor II with CRC Pro-Cuts.

In 1/12th modified, Joel Winnicki ran strong in qualifying, taking his Razor to a 3rd place qualifying position. Joining Joel in the A-main were CRC Razor II drivers Steve Pemberton and Johnny Whopper.

The entire oval team used CRC’s aluminum upper A-arm mount zero degree for oval (#4264). In addition, all the drivers had Delrin steering block, a-arms and delrin pivots for their t-bars in the Razor II.

Another great result from CRC’s growing oval effort.
